WIRED will help initiate job training and education programs for dislocated and unemployment workers.
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth (DLEG) has spawned a number of innovative partnerships known as Regional Skill Alliances (RSA). RSAs are employer-led partnerships that include educators, as well as a public workforce investment system, and are focused on meeting the needs of a given industry in a specific region of the state. The State of Michigan provided seed funding to assist in getting the RSAs off the ground, but several of them are struggling to marshal the resources to fund productive ventures. WIRED proposes setting aside a relatively modest fund to provide grants on a competitive basis to RSAs in the region - those that have shown promising results but are in need of resources.
