Planning for a diversified economy means retaining talent in current industries that may be declining as a whole.  To promote retention, it's important to address the demands of various industries and position the workforce to meet these demands.  This includes workforce re-training along key competencies, such as STEM.  Providing viable options for new careers can motivate the aspirations of the Detroit workforce.
